Dr. Richter-Werning was born and raised in the small Texas town of Poth. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Poth High School.

Dr. Richter-Werning attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma where she received her undergraduate degree in Biology. She obtained her Masters of Science degree in Biology at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. She then completed medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center – Houston. She completed residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Christus St. Joseph Hospital in Houston.

Dr. Richter-Werning has been in private practice in The Woodlands since 2006. She is currently serving as Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pediatrics at the new Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital.
