I made the appointment thinking that I would have a pap done as part of my routing annual well woman exam. A week or so later I received a call saying that my breast and pelvic exams were fine and I was good until next year. When I questioned if the pap was ok I was told that I only had a pelvic exam not a pap. I was confused. I am 67, I have been through menopause but I have not had a hysterectomy. Is this normal procedure that after menopause a pap is no longer necessary? I was pleased with the visit and didn't mind that a student was present for the exam but I assumed the exam would be more thorough with a pap culture. I don't feel that my questions were completely answered. Other than that all was fine. I am very pleased with Antoinette Ferry. She is very pleasant, very knowledgeable and always listens to my concerns.
She was very personable.
