Dr. Dana Baras graduated magna cum laude from James Madison University with a degree in business administration, then earned a Masters of Public Health degree in epidemiology from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. She is comfortable with high-risk pregnancies and is a proponent of vaginal birth after C-section in the appropriate patients. She is familiar with a wide spectrum of OB/GYN surgeries including those robotic surgeries using the DaVinci robot.
Her interests include general and high risk obstetrics as well as preconception counseling, adolescent health, contraception and abnormal uterine bleeding. Her surgical interests include office hysteroscopy and LEEP, outpatient operative hysteroscopy, including endometrial ablation and hysteroscopic resection of uterine fibroids and polyps. She also performs minimally invasive hysterectomy, ovarian cystectomy, and salpingectomy. She is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Baras grew up in Virginia Beach, where she developed a love of the ocean. She is married to Alex Baras, also a physician at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and has two young children. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, trying new restaurants and listening to music.
