Dr. Rau received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania in 1980, and graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in 1984. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology in 1988 at Hartford Hospital, where he received the Joseph Klein Award for outstanding performance. Dr. Rau completed a fellowship in pediatric and adolescent gynecology at the University of Tennessee, Memphis in 1991.

In addition to his practice in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Rau is Director of the Division of Gynecology at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, and sees children and adolescents for gynecologic consultations. Dr. Rau is certified in da Vinci® robotic surgery and has an active minimally-invasive gynecologic surgical practice. Dr. Rau is an Assistant Clinical Professor in ObGyn and Pediatrics at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.

Dr. Rau loves playing with his grandson and granddaughter when he is not caring for others. He also enjoys running, skiing, and improving his Thai language skills.
