I’m Jess Good, the midwife heading up Moontower Midwifery!
My journey to midwifery began with the birth of my own son, where I experienced a lack of available options and support. My first birth was scary and nothing like I had envisioned. I was unprepared, though I took all of the classes and read all of the books. And when I arrived at the hospital in labor, it felt like a fight that no one believed I could win. She was truly present in my appointment. She made me feel comfortable to ask any question and supported for my medical values and choices. I am always nervous to go to any medical appointment as I can be particular with my medical care and do not like to feel pressured or made to follow a specific path when there are other options to consider and she made me feel supported and empowered to speak up and I didn't feel judged in any manner.
She is the best. She's so caring and kind. I feel so thankful she delivered my baby and that she did my postpartum appointment!

I didn’t have labor support. We were lost. This personal experience ignited a deep desire to support and empower women through client-centered care with providers you can trust, through empowerment and choice. This difficult birth experience led me to become the midwife I am today.
I’ve been working in birth for 16 years, starting out as a labor and delivery nurse. I attended midwifery school at The University of Washington and first practiced in the Seattle area, a mecca of midwifery and birth options. Through that education, I was able to attend births in many settings. I then moved to Nevada and practiced in the hospital setting, caring for women in underserved communities. I moved back to Austin in 2015 and have been here ever since. Locally, I’ve worked in private collaborative practice doing birth center and hospital-based birth. Most recently, as a hospitalist midwife, I have gained experience caring for a higher-risk population. Through all of these roles, I have learned one very important thing: that midwives should be available to all women; in pregnancy and childbirth, through preventative and gynecological care, throughout their lifetime.
Who am I outside of midwifery? I’m a mom of two awesome boys, Austin and Coen. I’m a wife to my husband, Brian. These people are my whole life. I love them so much. I love to travel and hike. I’m a potter, I think, though I still feel like a novice. I love plants, all kinds. I mostly make pots for my plants. I also love Taylor Swift and a Target run with my best friend. I embrace change, which I think helps me be a better midwife and person. I love anything that helps me slow down and be more present.
Getting the chance to create Moontower Midwifery is a dream come true. I’m so grateful to be offering the type of care that every person deserves. This has been a long time coming for the Austin area. Thank you for your interest in this exciting new option!
