Dr. Mahoney is a native of Richmond who attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. She went on to counsel runaways and teens in crisis in Washington, DC and Richmond before pursuing her interest in medicine. Dr. Mahoney received a master’s in physiology and a medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia.
She completed her internship and residency at the Medical University of South Carolina and was chief resident in her final year. Dr. Mahoney has just returned to Richmond from Charleston, South Carolina and joined West End ObGyn in August 2006.
She is a junior fellow with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists and a member of the Richmond Academy of Medicine.
Dr. Mahoney enjoys addressing all the medical needs of her patients and serves a diverse population, from teenagers to postmenopausal women. She cares for women with uncomplicated as well as high risk pregnancies. Dr. Mahoney is also experienced in non-invasive laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery.
Dr. Mahoney appreciates returning to Richmond and spending time with friends and family. As the mother of 3 young sons, she identifies with the needs of so many of her patients.
