Dr. Mahoney is a patient, understanding, knowledgeable, and caring doctor. The nursing staff is also understanding and knowledgeable.
Dr. Mahoney was incredible. She came in and explained the procedure to me, answered questions I had. She is so genuine and made me feel comfortable for a rather uncomfortable procedure. I really appreciated the time she took to help me understand and make me feel comfortable!

In-office experience was fine, as always. In days I will be 80 years old, and didn't grow up with a computer format for everything. I would ask for a copy of office notes to be mailed to me, and those for last year and this visit have not yet been forthcoming. It is embarrassing to have to ask for the assistance of a printed copy, and I have been procrastinating. On the other hand, not having written results for doctor visits doesn't make sense. More importantly, and on the positive side, I was most grateful for Dr. Mahoney's assistance when I needed a referral for upcoming memory care.

Dr. Mahoney is a native of Richmond who attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. She went on to counsel runaways and teens in crisis in Washington, DC and Richmond before pursuing her interest in medicine. Dr. Mahoney received a master’s in physiology and a medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia.
She completed her internship and residency at the Medical University of South Carolina and was chief resident in her final year. Dr. Mahoney has just returned to Richmond from Charleston, South Carolina and joined West End ObGyn in August 2006.
She is a junior fellow with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists and a member of the Richmond Academy of Medicine.
Dr. Mahoney enjoys addressing all the medical needs of her patients and serves a diverse population, from teenagers to postmenopausal women. She cares for women with uncomplicated as well as high risk pregnancies. Dr. Mahoney is also experienced in non-invasive laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery.
Dr. Mahoney appreciates returning to Richmond and spending time with friends and family. As the mother of 3 young sons, she identifies with the needs of so many of her patients.
