Dr. Sargent graduated from the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. He earned his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia. After graduating, he entered active duty in the United States Army and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Dr. Sargent served on active and reserve duty in the US Army for over 20 years and completed assignments in Bitburg, Germany; Fort Bliss in Texas; Camp Eagle in Bosnia; and Ft. Bragg in North Carolina. Prior to founding Reflections OB/GYN in 2009, he was the chairman of the department of OB/GYN at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida.
