She completed her Residency training at University of Florida Shands Jacksonville. She has received "Top Doctors in America" and "America's Top Obstetrician and Gynecologists." Dr. Whelihan was the recipient of the "Women in Leadership Award" from the Executive Women of the Palm Beaches and "Woman of the Year" from Palm Beach Illustrated and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She remains committed to the legislative side of medicine acting as the President of the Palm Beach County Medical Society and the Florida OBGYN Society from 2009-2010.
