Melissa grew up in Pennsylvania where her passion for women's health was inspired by her father, a retired OB/GYN physician. She received her undergraduate degree from Penn State University. After working for several years as a registered nurse in home health and labor and delivery, she returned to school for a graduate degree. Melissa attended Georgetown University earning her masters in nursing as a nurse midwife/ women's health nurse practitioner. Melissa has worked in private practice in the northern virginia area for the past 6 years, currently providing in hospital births for women at Inova Fair Oaks hospital. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, scuba diving and traveling, spending time with her family and with her dog Mia.
