Verified Patient Reviews for Patricia Hughes, MD
*I did not visit the 400 Frank W Burr BLVD location, this was an egg retrieval performed at the Gregori Surgery Center in West Orange, NJ. Dr. Hughes was very kind in speaking with me prior to the procedure, took the time to sit with me when she spoke with me following the procedure, and post-procedure I had no pain and no bleeding, which is a change from my previous procedure with a different provider after which I had significant pain and bleeding.

The procedure went really well and the surgical team made modifications to the normal preop order of operations that made it much much easier on my anxiety and PTSD triggers.

After graduating from Mount Holyoke College then Medical School at Albany Medical College, she completed her OB/GYN Residency at St. Luke’s–Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York. She then completed her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She is proud to have been a member of some of the largest and most successful IVF programs in America, since she began her career.
Dr. Hughes has clinical expertise in hysteroscopic surgery, ovulation problems, hormonal bleeding problems, endometriosis, unexplained infertility, and recurrent miscarriages. She prides herself on the diagnosis and treatment of infertility with efficiency, ease, and minimal discomfort. Patients are actively engaged in the process, with full explanations and participation in the discussion of treatment options.
Her love of reproductive medicine has roots in her upbringing. Coming from the Adirondack Mountain region of New York, she was one of seven children. Both of her parents were physicians and all seven children also became physicians. Both family and medicine have been a part of her formative influences from the beginning. Growing up in the culture of medicine, along with healthy competition among her siblings was very influential. Her early home life was combined with her appreciation of nature – lakes, rivers, mountains, and oceans, as well as their flora and fauna.
But nothing is as satisfying as being able to help couples to make their own families. Dr. Hughes feels privileged to have been given the opportunities of advancement in education, key leadership roles in IVF Programs, and experience over the years which has enabled her to help countless couples achieve their dreams. The IVF team of physicians and embryologists at IRMS are, indeed, the Dream Team.
