Sara Benerofe, DO

Dr. Sara Benerofe is a compassionate and skilled board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist with experience in high-risk obstetric deliveries, gynecology, and hospital-based care. She earned her Bachelor of Science at the University of Rochester, graduating with distinction in research, before pursuing her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Benerofe completed her residency at Hackensack University Medical Center, where she not only honed her clinical expertise but also contributed significantly to medical education. After graduation she served as a faculty attending hospitalist for two years, gaining invaluable experience managing obstetric and gynecologic emergencies, particularly in high-risk patients with significant medical and surgical comorbidities. Additionally, Dr. Benerofe was honored to be the St. George’s University Medical Student Clerkship Director for the Ob/Gyn rotation, guiding and mentoring the next generation of physicians.

Throughout her career, Dr. Benerofe has remained committed to improving patient care through clear and compassionate communication. Her focus on enhancing patient-centered interactions between healthcare providers and advocating for quality improvement in medical practice has been central to her approach. Dr. Benerofe is also dedicated to using American Sign Language (ASL) to ensure all patients feel heard and understood, a skill she cultivated during college and wishes to continue to use in her practice.

In recognition of her dedication to education and research, Dr. Benerofe served as the Education Chief Resident and was the recipient of the Medical Student Teaching Award and Resident Research Award during her residency at Hackensack University Medical Center. She remains passionate about ongoing learning and advancing the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Outside of her medical career, Dr. Benerofe enjoys spending quality time with family and friends and indulging in her creative side through painting. She is deeply committed to making a positive impact on the lives of her patients and hopes to inspire those around her through her expertise, compassion, and leadership.
