About Stacie Walker:

Stacie relocated from the harsh winters of Chicago, Illinois to North Carolina in 2008. A self described “military brat” of her father that retired in the Air Force and her mother who left the workforce to raise her and her siblings, they spent a great deal of time traveling. Her husband Maurice, also served in the armed forces, in the Army, and now as an Officer in the Navy. Stacie lives with her husband Maurice and their son Jalen. Stacie’s family would not be complete without mentioning her fur baby, Gunner, her very spoiled labradoodle. In addition to her love of family Stacie is a diehard Tarheel fan, particularly Tarheel basketball. Stacie’s love of the sport has been passed on to her youngest son Jalen, who is quite the basketball player. Stacie admits to being a “basketball mom” and “coach”. She also enjoys singing.

Stacie began her career in women’s health over 10 years ago where she fell in love with labor and delivery while working at the Duke Birthing Center, Durham, NC. The Duke Birthing Center is a high risk tertiary labor and delivery unit which afforded her the opportunity to connect and learn from many of the greatest physicians and midwives in the world of obstetrics. She also served as a clinical instructor for the Duke University School of Nursing. It was during this time she saw the value of collaborative care between physicians and midwives, as well as student learners. The unique insights of midwives as experts in normal labor and birth was key to a balanced approach to obstetric care in an academic setting. These experiences were instrumental in molding her delivery of care to ensure ALL women, no matter their health status, received focused-centered care that normalized their hospital stay. She knew becoming a certified nurse midwife would enable her to reach even more women. Stacie completed her education and training at both George Washington University and Shenandoah University. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse Midwifery degree. She completed her undergraduate degree from the University of NC, Charlotte. Prior to joining City of Oaks Midwifery Stacie worked as a full scope certified nurse midwife at Maria Parham, Duke LifePoint in Oxford, NC. Stacie plans to bring her experience and love of centering pregnancy care, diabetes education and continuous bedside labor support to the women that are served at City of Oaks Midwifery.
