About Urenna Acholonu:
Dr. Urenna Acholonu is a board certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist. She double majored and earned her Bachelor of Science degrees in Health Science and Psychology, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. She earned her Medical Degree from George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, DC, and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mount Sinai West / Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital in New York City, NY. Dr. Acholonu received several awards and recognition as a student and resident, including earning the department awards for medical student and resident education.
She has participated in various research projects. Her most recent research project was a presentation on “The Rate of Cesarean Delivery after a Successful External Cephalic version” at Mount Sinai West in New York City. She has had a longtime interest in global health and has participated in multiple medical missions to several countries, including in Jamaica, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Panama and Nigeria.
She is a junior fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She enjoys all aspects of Obstetrics and Gynecology including obstetrics, contraception, adolescent gynecology, minimally invasive surgery, preventative care, and patient education.
She enjoys traveling, reading, dancing and spending time with friends and family. As a new member of the Capital Women’s Care Howard County team, Dr. Acholonu is very excited to meet new incoming patients.
