Elizabeth Purrington is a board certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner who specializes in gynecology, treating women from adolescence through postmenopausal years. She treats menstrual disorders, provides contraception and counselling, treats perimenopausal symptoms, Overactive Bladder, and performs annual exams. She is especially interested in helping women bridge over life stages throughout the lifespan. Elizabeth earned a Masters of Nursing from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in Nashville, TN in 2000. She enjoyed 2 years on Vanderbilt’s Women’s Care Unit, caring for high risk pregnancy, normal post-partum and mother/baby, gynecologic oncology, and benign gynecology post-op patients.

She returned to her home state of Virginia in 2003, to The Jones Institute of Reproductive Medicine at EVMS (Now Shady Grove Fertility Jones Institute) where she oversaw clinical research projects in contraception and endometrial health, cervical health, and assisted reproduction. She has spent multiple years contributing to clinical research in oncology, liver disease, cardiovascular disease, and vaccines along with direct clinical care.

She earned a BA in English from The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoors, hiking, paddling (kayaks and boards), music making and listening, reading, traveling, cooking and gardening.
