Jason Alvarez, MD

Dr. Jason Alvarez, MD comes to the Beach Eye Care team having completed a three-year ophthalmology residency at Baltimore, Maryland’s renowned Kreiger Eye Institute and a medical internship at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. Originally from Manila in the Philippines, Dr. Alvarez received his medical degree from the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University (FIU); his undergraduate degree in biology was earned at the University of North Florida (UNF). He has conducted major research into age-related macular degeneration (ARMD) and other forms of age-related eye disease at the Krieger Eye Institute Retina Care Center and for the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) medical research Scholars Program. Dr. Alvarez comes to us ready and willing to help patients with Cataract Surgery and Laser Vision Correction (LASIK). He also provides comprehensive eye care which includes the monitoring of: Diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma and dry eye. Dr. Alvarez is accepting new patients at our Kempsville (Kemps River) and Hilltop (First Colonial) Locations.
