Verified Patient Reviews for Kim Plessel, MS, RDN, LD
Kim was wonderful at meeting me where I was at and providing me realistic, specific dietary tweaks to get me where I want to be with my nutrition. I felt really comfortable talking to her, and we chose the focus of our session together, which meant that all the things we talked about were things I wanted to learn more about and was ready and excited to put into practice. She also gave me some new insights and helped me understand new ways that I could make small changes to my diet to better my health in areas I hadn't previously been thinking about. Because she was so passionate about listening to me, I was very receptive to listening to her, and I welcomed her thoughts. I wish I could meet with her monthly - I would highly recommend her to anyone.
I think Kim is a lovely dietician. She is realistic, listens to patients and responds with new ideas. She truly partners with you instead of telling you what to do. That is what encourages me to buy in and actually do what we decide together.
Kim had great ideas that I'm trying to implement into my daily life.

Kim listens attentively, asks questions, and is always focused on what I need to be successful. She wants my input on how she can best support my goals, but doesn't pressure me to make big changes or a large number of changes. She gives very practical advice for what can be lifelong lifestyle changes. She also has quick resources to look into supplements, foods, or diet questions I might have. She can typically give me feedback right in the moment.

I love the field of nutrition because it provides an opportunity to establish meaningful relationships with my patients on a very personal journey.
Our food choices are influenced by numerous factors including childhood experiences, personal preferences, social influences and health goals. Enhancing our lifestyle patterns can feel daunting and overwhelming at times, yet hopeful and profoundly powerful. Listening and personally connecting with each of my patients allows me to creatively partner with them to identify small, sustainable improvements that can ultimately transform their lives. I know this to be true, because I have experienced it firsthand. Growing up in the Red River Valley, I was raised on classic farm fare with an affinity for ice cream and soda. I have slowly transformed my diet, embracing healthy, whole foods, learning to cook creative meals, and mindfully enjoying my treats.
Changing our behaviors is a very individualized process. I believe that each person holds the key to their own health so I try to explore creative ways to honor each patient’s intuitive wisdom while encouraging them to nutritionally enhance their well-being and their families’ health.
I am fortunate to to be a part of the Oakdale ObGyn team as I have been a patient here since 2006. My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful experience here as we started our family. We have had two beautiful children, Isaac and Lilah. I continue to enjoy Oakdale’s support to live well.
In my free-time, I enjoy spending time with my family in the Elm Creek Park Reserve. We enjoy running, biking and cross-country skiing. As a busy mom, I also value my quiet time reading and practicing yoga.
