Kristin DeHaven, MD, is a board-certified gynecologist who has dedicated her career to advancing women’s health through compassionate care, surgical expertise, and service to underserved communities.
Dr. DeHaven knew from an early age that she wanted to become a physician. She fondly recalls visiting the small hospital where her father worked as an inpatient pharmacist and entering through the Emergency Department. Watching nurses and physicians work with focus and purpose left a lasting impression. Even at a young age, she recognized the importance of their work and felt called to help others through medicine.
She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Wake Forest University and went on to attend medical school at West Virginia University. Dr. DeHaven completed her residency training at the University of Louisville, where she was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society in recognition of her academic excellence and leadership.
Dr. DeHaven has a strong commitment to global outreach and medical mission work. She has traveled to Nicaragua on medical missions and has made five trips to Haiti to perform gynecologic surgery in challenging clinical environments. Through her partnership with the Community Coalition for Haiti, she has cared for women who previously had little to no access to medical care. Treating complex and advanced gynecologic conditions in these settings has further strengthened her surgical skills and enhanced the care she provides to her patients at home.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. DeHaven remains actively involved in service-oriented organizations. She is a board member of Bethania Kids, a ministry in India focused on empowering women and supporting orphaned children and individuals with disabilities. In February 2020, she led a women’s health symposium in Kodaikanal, located in southern India.
