Being that I don't have to come back for another postpartum appointment, it would have been good to be given steps for my continued c-section recovery in absence of a doctor's visit.
Doctor was courteous and the nurses and support staff.
Provider was phenomenal and front desk was so patient with my insurance questions and inability to get in my insurance portal. Tech assigned to provider who did my BP, weight etc ended up being okay but first impression was that she was rushing and dismissive. She asserted that I didn't need to finish my paperwork when she was trying to get me to step on the scale. "I'm sure we already have all that information". When I said "do you?" She commented that I was already in the system but it'd been a while. I explained that "a while" was over 10 years ago and 4 pregnancies/2 births since my last visit. His bed side manner is phenomenal. He was engaged, empathetic and seemed interested in solutions for my concerns.

Dr. Powell was very attentive, polite, patient and answered all of my questions. I didn't feel rushed even though I was his last patient (that was shared with me prior to me being seen by Dr. Powell, before I went into the exam room.)
I liked the environment staff were friendly. Dr powell and his assistant were really ncie as well kinda and friendly! I would recommend this location if someone asked me about it :). I have heard bad reviews about the reception personnel, but that wasn’t my case and i hope they keep it up.

Following clinical research engagements at the National Cancer Institute in Frederick MD and Northwestern University, he obtained his Master’s of Science Degree in Biomedical Science and his Medical Degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed his Internship and Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Inova Fairfax Hospital, serving as Wellness Chief Resident in his final year of Residency. While in Residency Dr. Powell provided comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological care to a diverse patient population including un-insured and under-resourced patients in Northern Virginia. He is a member of both ACOG and the AMA.
Dr. Powell’s clinical interests include routine and high-risk obstetric care, minimally invasive gynecological surgery including laparoscopic and da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery, contraceptive counseling and general preventative care for patients at all stages of their reproductive lives.
Outside of medicine Dr. Powell enjoys spending time with family, traveling, cooking, golfing and crossword puzzles.
