Alexander Powell, MD

Dr. Alexander Powell graduated from Brandeis University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. Following clinical research engagements at the National Cancer Institute in Frederick MD and Northwestern University, he obtained his Master’s of Science Degree in Biomedical Science and his Medical Degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed his Internship and Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Inova Fairfax Hospital, serving as Wellness Chief Resident in his final year of Residency. While in Residency Dr. Powell provided comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological care to a diverse patient population including un-insured and under-resourced patients in Northern Virginia. He is a member of both ACOG and the AMA.

Dr. Powell’s clinical interests include routine and high-risk obstetric care, minimally invasive gynecological surgery including laparoscopic and da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery, contraceptive counseling and general preventative care for patients at all stages of their reproductive lives.

Outside of medicine Dr. Powell enjoys spending time with family, traveling, cooking, golfing and crossword puzzles.
