Verified Patient Reviews for Anne Schmiesing, MD
Anne is very knowledgeable and caring. She took the time to listen to me even though much of the things we discussed probably only affected a small part of what she needed to know to treat me. Leaving her office I felt heard and cared for. I can't imagine finding a better Dr.

My interest in obstetrics and gynecology began even prior to medical school. Years ago I had the opportunity to be involved in a program partnering with teen moms. This experience sparked my interest in pregnancy and the various issues faced by women. I decided to pursue a public health degree in Maternal and Child health which deepened and expanded my interest in the broader issues faced by many women but also made me realize that I wanted to work one on one with patients. Medical school then confirmed my desire to pursue OBGYN. Each piece of the job, from talking to patients in the clinic, to performing surgery in the operating room, to helping a patient deliver their baby, felt and still feels like a huge privilege to be a part of. I hope to be an advocate and support in whatever life brings each patient with full spectrum obstetric and gynecologic care.
Interestingly, my mom received her obstetric and gynecologic care through Southdale OBGYN so I was born through the practice! I then went on to have my first baby through Southdale OBGYN during medical school. I have always loved the culture of the practice and can’t believe I get to work here as a provider.
I spend most of my free time with my husband, two little kids and greater extended family in South Minneapolis. We love being outdoors and brave all seasons of Minnesota with lots of walking, running, skating and cross country skiing.
