Dr. David Wagar joined the Capital Women's Care team in 2012 after 10 years of practice outside of Maryland. Dr. Wagar provides expert general OB/GYN care and advanced surgical services to women in Rockville and Silver Spring, Maryland.
Dr. Wagar is one of the most experienced surgeons in the Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC areas when it comes to the da Vinci® Surgical System. Early in his career, Dr. Wagar was actively recruited by Oregon Health and Science University to strengthen their surgical program and develop their robotic surgery program with the da Vinci Surgical System.
Because of his expertise, Dr. Wagar’s the only physician at the practice who uses the da Vinci system, and he’s also only one of a handful of surgeons using the da Vinci system in Montgomery County, Maryland.
Outside of his experience with robot-assisted surgery, Dr. Wagar also performs advanced laparoscopic surgery and advanced hysteroscopic surgery. Whenever possible, he performs most of his surgeries using the minimally-invasive approach.
Dr. Wagar’s other areas of expertise include normal pregnancy, high-risk pregnancy, abnormal Pap tests, contraception, abnormal bleeding, and basic infertility.
Dr. Wagar earned his MD from Oregon Health and Science University in Portland and completed his residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology.
When he isn’t at work, Dr. Wagar can be found with his wife and three children. He also enjoys skiing, cycling, running, and he has completed several triathlons.
