Doctor was very proactive explained next steps depending on results of days testing at annual exam. Love that they arrange all annual appts in one visit…pap smear, mammogram and Breast ultrasound. Was in an out in about an hour. Love the efficiency of scheduling. Doctor, technicians, and office staff at this practice are fabulous. I highly recommend because their efficiency removes human nature procrastination of scheduling multiple appts which means one is usually hitting proactive exams / tests on the recommended schedule. This is first that I'm actually doing on 12 month schedule vs 12 to 18 months + just do to scheduling logistics.

Dr. Alvarez’s passion for women’s health began early in his life. He grew up in Puerto Rico where his father had established his Ob/Gyn practice. As he grew and had to make career decisions of his own, he recognized in himself that he too could provide compassion and understanding to women’s health needs. Dr. Alvarez attended University of Puerto Rico and graduated Magna Cum Laude and then continued on at University of Puerto Rico where he earned his Medical Doctor degree. He completed his internship and residency at University of Puerto Rico District Hospital in San Juan, a very busy and challenging experience at a major city program.
When Dr. Alvarez finished his residency he married his wife Grisel and they moved to Bradenton in 1994. He immediately found this area to be home and went to work in a private practice. In 1997 he opened the doors of OB-GYN Women’s Centre of Lakewood Ranch and his business flourished. He has been providing excellent quality care for women since then and has grown the number of patients and providers to meet the needs of the community.
Dr. Alvarez has also participated in outside organizations including the Association of Advanced Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is board certified by ABOG and has completed courses in Advanced Cosmetic Plastic Gynecology. He has advanced skills in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Alvarez was also the Chairman of Ob/Gyn Department at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center Hospital since they first opened in September 2004 and continued until 2008.
Dr. Alvarez is passionate about his career and feels his abilities lie in caring for women throughout their different stages of life. He enjoys delivering babies and feels that this experience in his own life with the birth of his own daughter, Gaby, was the most exciting and memorable event he has had. He wants to extend this joy to all of the new parents who come to his practice. He has advanced diagnostic and surgical skills that make him an excellent provider for all patients in the operating room and in the office.
