The mammogram technician is so sweet and very gentle. The only thing I would say is that Dr. Alvarez needs to make his patients not feel so rushed. I'm literally still talking to him as he heads for the door.
Dr. Alvarez and his staff are very professional, kind and caring. I was taken good care of, provided medication to help me not feel anxious and very sufficient numbing agents provided so I did not feel any pain during procedures. I was made aware of what to expect prior to the procedures and again made aware of what they were doing throughout the process.

Dr. Jorge Alvarez has been proud to provide excellent gynecological healthcare to women for more than 20 years. Founder of OB-GYN Women’s Centre of Lakewood Ranch, Dr. Alvarez has dedicated his life to caring for women through providing quality gynecological and obstetric services.
Dr. Alvarez’s passion for women’s health began early in his life. He grew up in Puerto Rico where his father had established his Ob/Gyn practice. As he grew and had to make career decisions of his own, he recognized in himself that he too could provide compassion and understanding to women’s health needs. Dr. Alvarez attended University of Puerto Rico and graduated Magna Cum Laude and then continued on at University of Puerto Rico where he earned his Medical Doctor degree. He completed his internship and residency at University of Puerto Rico District Hospital in San Juan, a very busy and challenging experience at a major city program.
When Dr. Alvarez finished his residency he married his wife Grisel and they moved to Bradenton in 1994. He immediately found this area to be home and went to work in a private practice. In 1997 he opened the doors of OB-GYN Women’s Centre of Lakewood Ranch and his business flourished. He has been providing excellent quality care for women since then and has grown the number of patients and providers to meet the needs of the community.
Dr. Alvarez has also participated in outside organizations including the Association of Advanced Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is board certified by ABOG and has completed courses in Advanced Cosmetic Plastic Gynecology. He has advanced skills in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Alvarez was also the Chairman of Ob/Gyn Department at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center Hospital since they first opened in September 2004 and continued until 2008.
Dr. Alvarez is passionate about his career and feels his abilities lie in caring for women throughout their different stages of life. He enjoys delivering babies and feels that this experience in his own life with the birth of his own daughter, Gaby, was the most exciting and memorable event he has had. He wants to extend this joy to all of the new parents who come to his practice. He has advanced diagnostic and surgical skills that make him an excellent provider for all patients in the operating room and in the office.
