She joined her husband in the Navy and completed her Residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. She spent her last four years of service in Virginia and California and continued her passion for teaching as Simulation Coordinator for the OBGYN residents and Medical Student Clerkship Site Director for EVMS and USUHS medical students. Dr. Mayer is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is passionate about empowering, educating, and listening to her patients. Her particular interests are pregnancy loss, contraception, reproductive choice, LGBTQ+ care, and pediatric/adolescent gynecology. Dr. Mayer and her husband used to enjoy traveling and exploring wine country, but these days their time is spent with their busy, inquisitive, mischievous and adorable daughter watching Disney movies, singing, dancing, painting, and running around playgrounds.
