I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a nurse. I wanted to put my caring and compassionate personality to use. Nursing school was a whirlwind with multiple rotations and very early mornings. The early mornings and chaos didn’t seem so daunting when I started my labor and delivery experience. Katy was very nice- my previous nurse I saw for years is no longer there but Katy was very warm and responsive to my health concerns and helping me
Really appreciate the tentative care, and details on my specific scenario and suggestions on what next steps we can take. Felt safe and informative.
I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a nurse. I wanted to put my caring and compassionate personality to use. Nursing school was a whirlwind with multiple rotations and very early mornings. The early mornings and chaos didn’t seem so daunting when I started my labor and delivery experience. I felt completely at home. I wanted to be involved in as many deliveries as I could and felt a real connection with my laboring moms. That same year I started seeing a midwife for my own care and wanted to learn more. She took the time to get to know me and teach me what I needed to know to properly take care of myself. I was inspired. I want to provide that same type of care to adolescents, new moms and those advancing with age. I am so excited to finally have that opportunity.
Having the ability to be part of someone’s life so intimately is truly a blessing. Being able to provide evidence based practice and allowing women to make the choices best for them is empowering. The midwifery profession has taught me so much about who I am as a person and the type of care I want to provide each and every woman.
I grew up in Glencoe, MN. My nursing career took me down to Rochester to work at Mayo Clinic but I just recently found a place to live in Plymouth. When I’m not working I love to spend time with my family. I feel blessed to have such a close-knit family where I can “drop in” anytime I want. I also love to travel, read, spend time with my friends, and go on new adventures!
