Monica began her nursing journey by earning an Associate Degree in Nursing from El Centro College, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Tech University. After spending several years working in Women’s Services—primarily in labor and delivery—she returned to Texas Tech to complete her Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Nurse Midwifery. Her training and career have spanned both outpatient and hospital settings, with experience across the full spectrum of women’s health. Her favorite part of midwifery? “Birthday parties!! Especially the very first ones!” Monica is especially proud of empowering women to trust themselves and feel confident in their healthcare decisions. She finds great fulfillment in supporting patients through labor and witnessing the strength they discover along the way. Patients who choose Monica can expect a caring, personalized, and practical approach, paired with open communication and a little levity along the way. She values shared decision-making and meeting each patient where they are. Outside of work, Monica enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, running, reading, watching movies, and enjoying good food (at the top of her list: tacos, brisket, and chocolate chip cookies). She is the proud mom of two daughters and a son, all teenagers, who keep life interesting and full. One item on her bucket list is visiting all of the U.S. National Parks (hopefully with all of her kids).
