Comprehensive Women's Care

Comprehensive Women’s Care has its origins in a smaller practice that began in the 1970’s in Englewood, N.J. Since then it has grown and developed into a practice that provides care to women at every stage of life.

We recall the excitement as bold new concepts and fresh ideas caused the practice to grow and flourish. Early on, as word spread, women from the region were attracted to an environment supportive of natural childbirth. With success rates approaching 70%, we offered encouragement to those seeking a vaginal delivery after a previous C-Section birth. With careful supervision and improvements in technology, twin gestations could be monitored and delivered mostly at term. Ultrasound was introduced as part of the evaluation offered in our office. Since then over 2,000 amniocenteses have been safely performed. Advances in prenatal care and testing were quickly adopted and made available to our patients. We were the first practice in New Jersey to screen pregnant women with cultures for Group B Strep., years before the American College of OB/GYN made it the standard of care.

We acquired additional skills and were instrumental in introducing diagnostic and operative laparoscopy to the area. The evaluation of the uterine cavity with hysteroscopy became routine. Management of pre-invasive disease of the cervix was routinely accomplished with office procedures such as colposcopy, laser and electrosurgical excision procedures. The increasing quality of ultrasound allowed for better and non-invasive evaluation of gynecologic disorders.

While we are proud of our history, we continue our comprehensive approach to women’s health issues. Assessment of bone density has now been performed in our office since 2002, aiding us in detecting osteoporosis and assessing fracture risk. Currently, we are proud to say that we offer counseling and testing for the genetic disorders that increase a women’s risk of breast and ovarian cancer. And we have expanded our scope of practice to include pediatric and adolescent gynecology.

But testing and technology are not the whole story. We have a long history of advocating for our patients. Most importantly, we listen to them. Reviews performed by insurance companies have consistently shown our practice to be very thorough and cost efficient. This is because listening to the patient is the most effective way for a physician to formulate a plan and reach a diagnosis.

The practice of obstetrics and gynecology continues to evolve. It is our hope, that as we evolve, we will continue to listen.
