Debbie Smith, CNM, DNP grew up on the Gulf Beaches in St. Petersburg, Florida. She received her Bachelors in Nursing from the University of South Florida in 1991. Debbie started her career as a maternity nurse at Holmes Regional until 1995. She moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she received a Masters in Nursing-Midwifery from Emory University in 1997. Debbie Practiced as a Certified Nurse-Midwife delivering babies at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia until 2003 at which time she moved to Washington, DC area.
At this time she began to teach nursing at George Mason University and Marymount University. While teaching, Debbie resumed working as a Certified Nure-Midwife at Arlington Woman's Center in 2014 and joined the VHC Health OB/GYN team in 2020. She received her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Marymount University in 2021.
Debbie married her college sweetheart in 1991 and they have two sons. She cheers for the Virginia Tech Hokies as her childern are alumni. She loves to travel, and spend time with her boys.
