Verified Patient Reviews for Elizabeth Doro, CNM, APRN
Everything was wonderful except for the responses I got from Elizabeth when I asked some questions. She asked if I had any questions and I asked them and she made me feel dumb asking them. I'm a first time mom, so that's not okay.
Elizabeth is a deeply thoughtful and knowledgeable provider. She is conscientious of factors that can influence birth outcomes like fetal positioning and offers real advice. She'll tell you if something you heard online about pregnancy isn't true or a big deal but she won't make you feel bad for asking. I definitely feel like she is on my side and not just going through the motions even though our appointments are quick. She has good communication both with me and with other staff at the clinic, so tests and follow ups don't get dropped on busy days. Her attention to detail and calm presence have given me a lot of peace of mind throughout pregnancy.
Everyone is always so friendly and kind, and they make sure they do the absolute best for you and your baby!
Elizabeth listened to me carefully and prescribed medication. Her nurse was kind and helped me get up on the lower exam table. Elizabeth talked to me through the whole procedure. She then prescribed antibiotics and called them into Hopkins Center Drug.
My ultrasound tech was awesome and so was Liz! Quick and easy appointment that was super helpful for resolving my abnormal bleeding.

She listened to my needs. We discussed the pros and cons of continued medication and made a decision to continue my medication.
Liz Doro is a practicing midwife at Southdale ObGyn in Edina and Burnsville. She started her nursing career in high-risk obstetrics at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She moved to Minnesota and continued her labor and delivery nursing career at Southdale Hospital in Edina while she finished her degree in midwifery.
Doro obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in health and wellness – public health and life science from the University of Minnesota. She also earned a master’s in nursing from Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in Baltimore, Maryland, before completing her degree in midwifery at Frontier Nursing University.
Doro chose to join Southdale ObGyn as the practice’s fourth midwife because she knew and worked with many of the physicians and midwives in labor and delivery. “I knew I would be in a good place,” Doro said.
Doro is pleased to see that more women are interested in midwife care and counsel. As she explains, “Women are eager to be a bigger part of their pregnancy process—from prenatal care to delivery.”
She enjoys having in-depth conversations with the women in her care, which often creates a lasting bond. Beyond pregnancy care, Liz also provides traditional gynecological care such as annual exams, preconception care, abnormal bleeding, birth control and breast concerns.
“The cool part of being a midwife is seeing patients throughout their pregnancy and the excitement of being there for the birth and seeing the baby afterward,” Doro said.
Outside of work, Doro enjoys hiking with her two dogs, baking sourdough (she had this passion even before the pandemic), spending time in the gym … and traveling with her partner: “We want to hit as many national parks as we can!”
